Yes!...Black Ballet History...
is 'So Sashay!'
We now remember, and say the name...
...Dionne Figgins
After being birthed in Memphis and
growing up in D. C., Dionne got down
to work at Dance Theatre of Harlem.
She performed leading roles in a whole
bunch of Classical Pieces! Then she
went into choreographing, acting,
and Broadway!
"She Knows How!"
Black Ballet History Month,
celebrated each year in August, was
founded by Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.
in 2025 to recognize, celebrate,
and honor, with deep pride, the
countless Black Men, Women,
and Organizations who
tirelessly gave, and are giving, their
time, talent, and physical treasure to
exquisitely create, interpret, and put
on historical and memorable
Professional Ballet Productions the
World over and to teach and mentor
upcoming generations of performers!
The Founder of Black Ballet History Month,
Ralph C. Winge, D.D.S.,
is also a Classical Ballet enthusiast,
USC Dental School Graduate,
and elucidator of elatus labialis wingeulus.
